Best Trailer of 2009: Where The Wild Things Are
We've got a couple of weeks until the 82st Annual Academy Awards (March 7, 2010). You know what that means. It's time for some real awards! I've been thinking. 2009 wasn't so bad. As I compiled this list I wasn't too impressed, but then I looked at the awards list and realized there were indeed many memorable moments. Sci-fi was in top form this year (Avatar, District 9), as were Jesse Eisenberg movies with "land" in the title (Adventureland, Zombieland). There were some disappointments (The Lovely Bones comes to mind), but every year will see a few letdowns. Here's the top 10 films that I saw in 2009:
honorable mention:
Brothers Bloom, The
Coraline
Hurt Locker, The
Up in the Air
Zombieland

Don't even try to come at me with that "indie soundtrack seller" argument or the "that guy's such a wussy" crap—any male saying Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character is unrealistic hasn't been in entangled in love with someone who doesn't completely love them back. This represents that. Perfectly. Some days are magical; some suck. Frustrations match the memories. Marc Webb's film is refreshing, well-written, hilarious, and hip. It's the best picture of the year.
